Everyone who comes to Algerine says what an ideal location it’s in. Tucked away up a narrow lane just off the harbour of this lively town, it is perfect for soggy children and dogs to potter home after a paddle, to dry off in the warm, comfortable cottage. Tiled floors downstairs and a ground floor bathroom make this a popular choice for dog owners and active families who like to get down and dirty exploring the beaches and coast path at close quarters. The inclusion of a ground floor bedroom and proximity to the town amenities also ticks boxes for families of mixed ages and abilities, or those who don’t want to use a car much.
With a well-equipped kitchen, coastal touches, one single and three double bedrooms with plenty of storage, and an additional shower room upstairs, Algerine Cottage is very practical, yet still retaining the charm of an old fisherman’s cottage. It has gas central heating and two gas effect wood burning stoves in the sitting room and dining area, so makes a great year round retreat for people looking for a quiet location but with everything on their doorstep, from pubs and shops to miles and miles of scenic walks.
The lane is very narrow here and there is no designated parking for Algerine Cottage. You can find free street parking nearby. That does have the advantage of there being very little passing traffic - you’re more likely to see alpacas wander past as they are taken on their walks round the back lanes and lokes of Wells.
Up to four well behaved dogs are welcome (small additional charge).
Please note dogs are not allowed upstairs or in the bedrooms.

Small double bedroom (front)
Small double bed (4ft 6) suitable for one/two people as the bed is adjacent to the wall with access at one side only or for two people who are happy to be slightly more cosy.
A lovely light double aspect room with double bed, travel cot, iron and ironing boards stored in the wardrobes.
With spacious shower cubicle with mains shower, heated towel rail and WC.
Double bedroom (rear)
A pretty room with a double bed.
To the rear of the cottage is an enclosed courtyard garden with table and chairs seating six and external lighting, an ideal place to enjoy a meal with family and friends in a peaceful location.
Roadside parking may be available close by. There are double yellow lines immediately outside the cottage. A council car park is 10 minutes walk away in Freeman Street. A weekly parking permit is available for £27.50 from the main car park ticket machine.
With a bustling quay, quirky shops and a family friendly beach Wells is a popular holiday destination year round. From boat rides to crabbing, arcades and narrow-gauge railways, children will love it here. Wells Maltings arts and heritage centre has events and performances throughout the year. You can even take llamas for a walk through the town. And no trip to Wells would be complete without Fish & Chips on the harbour. Holkham estate is a short drive, bus ride or scenic beach walk away, where there are family activities, lovely eateries, parkland and tours at this famous stately home.
There's so much to do in and around Wells you may not want to go far, but is also a great base for exploring the whole Norfolk coast as it is so central.
