There is a lovely village green in the centre with a playpark for children, tennis courts and a fishing lake. One of its best features are the wayside stalls set up in the summer that sell locally grown produce, cakes and samphire (otherwise known as ‘poor man’s asparagus’).
Nearby is Creake Abbey which boasts an award-winning Farmer’s market, shops food hall and a café set amongst the peaceful ruins.
Wine enthusiasts should definitely head to Burn Valley Vineyard. Amble down the vine rows before heading back to the winery to sample their fantastic latest vintages accompanied by a charcuterie platter.
Sir John Betjeman (former Poet Laurate) loved the large medieval The Church of our Lady St Mary in the village.
