Brooke Cottage is quite simply everything you would imagine from a traditional old Norfolk cottage. Grade II listed, and dating from the 17th century, there's a huge inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove, a twisty, steep winder staircase, original pine latched doors, a lovely brass bed and views over the green of an historical village. The cottage is furnished beautifully with period and comfortable furniture. The doors are low so you may need to remember to duck your head!
The cottage is situated in a peaceful and pretty area on a quiet country lane. The River Stiffkey runs through the village and there is a ford to drive through - although there is an alternative route if you wish! The popular coastal resort of Wells-next-the-Sea with its independent shops, cafes, restaurants, fabulous Quay and stunning beach is a few minutes’ drive away.
Two well behaved dogs welcome (small additional charge).
Bespoke fitted kitchen with wooden work tops. Microwave, electric oven and hob, fridge with icebox, dishwasher. Pamment flooring and beamed ceiling.

Lovely cosy room with window seat looking over the village green. Large brick inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove, a dining table and chairs. Period features and beamed ceiling.

To the rear is a shared courtyard area plus a further area of enclosed lawn which is private (not fully secure for dogs).
Parking outside the cottage on the green.
Norfolk Winder stairs are, as with older character cottages, enclosed, steep, curved and narrow. At Brooke Cottage they are wooden with a vertical hand rail.
Great Walsingham, in true Normal for Norfolk style is actually smaller than Little Walsingham its more famous neighbour.
The two villages are bisected by the River Stiffkey and the braver of visitors can drive through the picturesque ford providing you have a large enough vehicle.
This is a lovely spot to come and sit and watch the water float by and walk along the river bank. It is much more peaceful than Little Walsingham with a beautiful mediaeval church which retains much of its original art and carvings.
There is a craft barn and local cafe serving very delicious lunches and light snacks.
The coast at Wells next the Sea is a very short drive away.
