An ideal retreat for couples, families, walkers, music lovers and bird watchers. Blythburgh, set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just inland from Southwold Dunwich and Walberswick, is close to the RSPB’s Minsmere nature reserve, the location for BBC Springwatch. Chantry Cottage combines charm and character with comfort and convenience. The cosy sitting room has a wood burning stove and there is a dining room and separate kitchen. Bespoke wooden windows provide extra comfort and style. Both upstairs bedrooms enjoy views over the pretty cottage garden, towards the Church and the Blyth Estuary.
Here is the starting point for numerous walks along the coast or inland along the River Blyth to Wenhaston and Halesworth and is convenient for music lovers attending the Latitude Festival at Henham Hall and the Aldeburgh Festival. The White Hart, just a few minutes walk from the cottage, serves home cooked meals.
The garden is very private and not overlooked, it is reasonably secure but not completely dog proof.
One well behaved dog is welcome (small additional charge).

Chantry Cottage is opposite the imposing Church in Blythburgh which dominates the surrounding countryside and estuary. The Church, sometimes called the Cathedral of the Marshes hosts a number of events and concerts throughout the year. There is a pub in the village, The White Hart a short walk from the Cottage.
If you are interested in walking there are numerous footpaths heading towards Walberswick and Southwold taking in the views of the River Blyth. This also provides an excellent opportunity for bird and wildlife watching. RSPB Minsmere is approximately 20 minutes drive. Both Southwold and Walberswick have a number of excellent restaurants and cafes to tempt you following your exertions or join a tour of the Adnams brewery and distillery to find out how the drinks are made.
Looking further afield, Beccles sits on the border between Norfolk and Suffolk. This is a pretty market town with a number of independent shops. The town has access to the Broads via the River Waveney and there are opportunities to explore the river either on your own or with a crewed boat. If you are interested in historic houses Somerleyton Hall is a fine example of Victorian architecture with 12 acres of gardens designed by William Andrews Nesfield.
Although there is a lot on offer in the local areas surrounding Chantry Cottage you will find a cozy, peaceful hideaway when you return at the end of the day to relax in the cottage.
