Chapel Knap is a large period property in a tranquil setting with breathtaking views. The entrance hall at Chapel Knap is the last remaining part of the original chapel, which was built in the 12th century. The building has been added to and altered many times over the years since then and now it's a spacious and charming house in a location that really is second-to-none. The property is well suited to family holidays or gatherings of friends, anyone looking to get away from the stresses of daily life and wanting to enjoy the charm and beauty of Exmoor.

Chapel Knap can accommodate up to 7 guests plus cot (available on request). There are three bedrooms on the first floor; one double (with king-sized bed), one twin room, and a family room with a king-sized double bed plus a single. There are two upstairs bathrooms; one with bath only and the other has a bath and shower. Downstairs there is a living room and kitchen/dining area in the lovely garden room . A small part of the downstairs of the house has been made into a one-bedroom apartment which is used by the owner, her number is in the welcome pack and she will be there to answer any questions you may have during your stay.

The house sits within a large sub-tropical garden which is enclosed and private. There is a lawned terrace with doors leading onto it from the spacious garden room as well as the living room, from the terrace you can enjoy spectacular views of Porlock Bay towards Hurlstone Point whilst listening to the sea.

Secure off-road parking for two cars is available within the grounds of the property, this is a short walk from the front door; approximately 30 metres along a graveled path.

Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement (maximum of 2). A supplementary fee of £10 will be added to your invoice.

The kitchen is fitted with larder-syle fridge, under counter freezer, electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave, and slimline dishwasher. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, a variety of kitchen utensils, cookware, cutlery, crockery and glasses. A television with Sky TV is provided and wireless broadband is available at no extra cost. A cot and/or high chair is available; please request these items when booking so we can make sure they are present for your arrival.

Chapel Knap is strictly non-smoking.

Chapel Knap is available for week breaks during peak periods. Short breaks of three or four nights may be available. Please see our availability page for further details. The property will be ready from 4 pm on the day of your arrival. Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests.

Exmoor is situated in South West Britain, specifically across West Somerset and North Devon. Often referred to as England's best kept secret, Exmoor is a wonderful holiday destination for anyone looking for a holiday in the great outdoors! There's so much to see and do, from short walks to long expeditions across the moors or horse riding, taking in a safari or sight-seeing at your own pace around the 'picture postcard' villages and hamlets.

Porlock Weir has a quaint little harbour and its own unique charm; the port has a long and colourful history. Today Porlock Weir is a quiet harbour and a thriving community that welcomes tourists every year, many of whom come to enjoy the pretty scenery, shops, tea rooms, pubs and local cuisine. On a fine day, the South West Coast Path offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the fabulous views across Porlock Weir and the bay. The coastal footpath links up with many other walking trails including Culbone, home to the smallest church in England. One of the more unusual attractions at Porlock Weir is the submerged forest. At low tide, the remains of ancient tree trunks arise from the grey clay soil. These desiccated stumps are the last remaining evidence of a forest that, once upon a time, lay five miles inland.
