Compton House is a delightful, modern Cotswold cottage, with plenty of space for you all to relax in. Just a short stroll over a field takes you to the centre of Chipping Campden, one of the most quintessential of Cotswold towns.

Compton House is a large, contemporary country detached house that’s ideal if you’d like to explore the picturesque towns and rolling countryside of the Cotswolds. The spacious and airy living room is flooded with light, thanks to two sets of French doors and there’s a snug with its own television and a separate, large office too, so there’s plenty of space for you all to relax and stretch out in style.

The property is extremely well equipped, with little extras like an instant hot water tap in the kitchen as well as cable TV in both master bedrooms. In the summer months, the barbecue and tasteful garden furniture are a real draw and you could while away the hours living the outdoor life. Come the wintertime and the large inglenook fireplace becomes the focal point, creating a warm and snug home-from-home.

Compton House is literally just a five-minute walk from the centre of Chipping Campden. Just a short stroll across a field and you’re there. This is a town of honey-coloured streets, with plenty of independent boutiques, cafés and bars to explore. Chipping Campden is ideal for exploring the northern Cotswolds, with the iconic Broadway Tower and the fascinating collections of Snowshill Manor just a short drive away.

Attractions and nearby amenities

Chipping Campden is one of the most beautiful towns in the Cotswolds, so as you’d expect it comes with wide market streets and honey-coloured cottages. One particularly fine building to look out for is the row of Almshouses. But there’s some unexpected architecture here too. Old Campden House and Gateway stands forlorn as the only remnant of a mansion burnt down in the English Civil War.
Broadway Tower juts up into the air like a rocket ready for take-off. Standing prominently on a beacon hill, it’s a unique building that has seen plenty of history and played a role during the world wars. Displays in the tower take you through all the fascinating history.
If you want to stretch the legs and enjoy the great outdoors, there are plenty of walks leading from Chipping Campden, including the Cotswold Way. Batsford Arboretum is also a lovely place for a stroll, with one of the largest private collections of trees in the country. The Japanese maples are particularly photogenic in the autumn.
Snowshill Manor is a stately home with a twist. Its owner, Charles Wade, used the property as a place to store his vast collection of bric-a-brac. You’ll find everything from Samurai swords to convicts’ carvings. The collection is so overwhelming, he ended up living in the shed!
There are plenty of gardens to visit near Compton House. Hidcote Gardens are designed as a series of garden rooms, each of which having their own character. Mill Dene Gardens are a display of colour with some witty touches. You might spot a kingfisher while you’re here too.
If you’d like a spot of retail therapy after exploring the Cotswold hills and gardens, then Stratford-upon-Avon has plenty of household names as well as independent stores. Even if you’re not catching a play, it’s worth visiting the Royal Shakespeare Theatre to ascend the Tower and marvel at the views.
